4th of July Celebration
This Fourth of July, Fort Thomas celebrates it’s 150th anniversary with all kinds of festivities scheduled.
Over the 4th of July week, Fort Thomas celebrated a weeklong party for it’s 150th anniversary.
Fort Thomas was celebrating it’s 150th birthday in a very big way. There were a lot of activities all day long on the 4th, and a big part of it was games. You could bring the kids and play all kinds of games. You might not win the big prize, but you could still have a lot of fun.
The symphony orchestra played at 7:30pm before the big fireworks show. Of course there was the annual 4th of July parade, a tug of war, mustache and beard contest, hot dog eating contest and all kinds of other events.
Having lived in Fort Thomas for the past 6 years, my wife and I have grown to love this community. Our kids look forward to the parade every year, and I always say that it’s pretty much the opposite of Halloween. Instead of dressing our kids up to go trick or treat, other people dress up, come to us and throw candy to my kids. It’s pretty much ideal.
Beyond the parade, there were other events all week include a concert on Saturday headlined by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
What is really neat about the Fort Thomas community is that people have a lot of pride in where they live. Of course, the schools are fantastic with many of them winning national Blue Ribbon awards of Excellence. We have been very pleased with Moyer Elementary, and our friends and neighbors have great things to say about Highlands Middle and High School.
